No Control is a short-form improv troupe that was founded in 2015 by me, Elise Ramaekers, Tanner Boline, Isabelle Rutens, Griffin Lockette, Sydney Robinson, and Brandon Bennett. I took over over the troupe as it’s president, manager, coach, and player Fall 2018-Spring 2019. No Control’s improv style is influenced by training from iO Chicago and The Second City Chicago. As president in 2018, I coached the team, hosted its improv shows, as well as performed with the troupe! Many of us have studied at The Second City Chicago, iO Chicago, Upright Citizens Brigade, The Magnet, and The Annoyance Chicago. No Control emerged out of a college theatre department centered around Physical and Shakespeare theatre training. Creating a short-form improv troupe led by actor-trained theater artists enabled us to hone our comedic acting chops while also being an escape amidst the stresses of theatre school. This troupe is a staple for entertainment and fun in the LIU Post community as it performs on a monthly basis produced by LIU Post’s E.S.T.A. (Emerging Student Theatre Artists).
